Do I need a license to use NinjaTrader?

OneUp Trader provides a FREE license for Evaluation, Funded, and Trial accounts. You can use the license key you received in your OneUp Trader welcome email. 

NOTE: 

  • The free license key that we offer can only be used on the NinjaTrader Desktop (Version V 8.1 and above) once Funded.
  • NinjaTrader Web and Mobile are only available for NinjaTrader Brokerage account holders, for traders using third-party brokerage connections need to use the NinjaTrader Desktop version.

Can I use my own license key?

Yes, "Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage" or "Rithmic"  will work with our OneUp Trader logins. If you already have your own license key and that's not a visible option under PROVIDER when you add a connection, then you must contact NinjaTrader Support to enable the OneUp Trader Rithmic connection for your license key.

Our provided License key will automatically have the proper Rithmic server as the only option in adding. You can email NT support here: support@ninjatrader.com


NinjaTrader Desktop Version V.8.1 Connection Guide


Step 1. Complete RITHMIC Market Data Agreements

Please start with Step 1 before contacting Support. Your NinjaTrader connection will not work until you sign the CME agreements via R-Trader. 

You must first download Rithmic R|Trader Pro in conjunction with any other platform you may use.

Step 2. Create a free NinjaTrader account

Go to https://ninjatrader.com

  • Navigate to the top right of the page and click on OPEN ACCOUNT to complete your account registration.

  • Next is to import the OneUp Trader license key. Under Additional Options, Click on Import License Key.




Step 3. Downloading the NinjaTrader Desktop V.8.1 Platform

  • The next step is downloading and installing the NinjaTrader Desktop Application V.8.1.
  • Click on Download Desktop Platform for unlimited free use.
  • Under the Most Recent Release, Click on Download.


Step 4. Setting Up and Adding your OneUp Trader connection to NinjaTrader Desktop V.8.1

  • Open the newly installed NinjaTrader Desktop V.8.1 and log into your NinjaTrader account. You must enter the Username & Password created when you signed up for your NinjaTrader Account in Step 2.

  • You must have the Multi-provider option enabled. From the Control Center window, select Menu Tools > Options.

  • Check the Multi-provider option and select OK.

  • Navigate to TOOLS > Uncheck Global Simulation Mode.

  • The next step will be to add the OneUp Trader Connection to NinjaTrader. From the Control Center window, Select Connections > Configure.

  • Select Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage and click add.

  • Rename Connection name to OneUp Trader.
  • Input the USERNAME and PASSWORD you received in your OneUp Trader welcome email.
  • Choose Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago) as the system.
  • Ensure you check the box "Plug-in mode for market data". This allows you to have R|Trader Pro and NinjaTrader opened simultaneously.

  • Navigate to Connections > Select OneUp Trader and Connect to your newly added OneUp Trader connection.

Once successfully connected,  you should see a green box on the bottom left of your NinjaTrader that says “Rithmic/Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage - Connected" or “OneUp Trader - Connected”

Please note that the SIM101 account is a demo account that comes by default with Ninja. This is not the same as your Trial, Evaluation, or your Funded account. Any trades made under Sim101 are not recorded in your evaluation.
